There’s something about knowing you are worthy that whispers hope into darkness. Most people’s definition of worthiness is simply that we are not worthy. Not worthy of love, of hope, of life. Not worthy of good things, of help, of joy. And believing that one might be worthy seems like heresy. However, I am going to tell you,
You. Are. Worthy.
You are worthy of receiving the gift of Christ’s sacrifice. If you are not worthy of receiving such a gift, if you are simply not worth it, then why did Jesus die and what good did it do? You have infinite value in the Savior’s eyes. You are worthy because you have value and worth to Jesus. And the beauty of it is, you could never earn such a gift. And yet, you are worthy of receiving it because you are His child. You are worthy of receiving it, otherwise He wouldn’t have spent His life on you.
YOU did not make yourself worthy of receiving it—Christ CHOSE you to be worthy. Christ chose you to be worthy to receive the gift of His life, to receive love, to receive good things from Him. Again, you are worthy of Christ’s love. If you weren’t, He wouldn’t have spilled His blood over you.
You are worthy. Accept it. Embrace it. Look up and tell Him thank You for choosing you to be worthy to receive such a gift.
