Courage.
It’s a word that’s been floating around my head these days, a word He quietly spoke to me saying, “this My child, is My word for you right now.”
Some say courage is David come to meet Goliath, come to kill his giant. Some say courage is Martin Luther nailing the thesis to the door. Some say courage is Gideon marching towards the battleground. Some say courage is Joshua and Caleb eager to cross the border into Canaan amidst a thousand giants. Some say courage is Noah building an ark and facing ridicule every day. Some say courage is Corrie Ten Boom saving thousands of lives.
Courage. Yes perhaps so, there’s no doubt about it.
But perhaps that kind of courage originates from a quiet, inward understanding of His LOVE.
He spoke it gently to me under the cover of darkness: My child, this year My desire for you is to learn a simple, quiet courage.
A simple, quiet courage that dares to praise His name in the deepest pain.
Courage, it’s stubbornly believing God is good even in the overwhelming darkness. Courage, it’s daring to dance in the rain. Courage, it is to sing above the raging tempest, above the crashing waves. Courage, it’s claiming joy in the midst of pain. Courage, it’s to trust the heart of my Father in the midst of chaos. Courage, it is knowing that He is holding me tight.
Simple, quiet courage.
Because perhaps courage is simply knowing my Father’s heart—and resting, trusting in His infinite love.
